The world has become one big marketplace that businesses wanting to succeed should aim at becoming global. It’s not as hard to reach the rest of the world these days, thanks to the Internet. Etsy’s Linda Kozlowski talks more about becoming a global brand to the advantage of startups.

Kozlowski now serves as the newly appointed chief operating officer of Etsy and for her businesses can actually become a global brand even from day one. To date, Etsy has 1.7 million sellers globally catering to as many as 27 million buyers. According to her, the success of the online marketplace can be tracked back to its nature as an international business.

“From day one we have had buyers and sellers all over the world,” Kozlowski explains via Sydney Morning Herald.

“Etsy has grown to be one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world based on all these micro-entrepreneurs.”

She also adds that the world has become becoming complicated complete with a lot of global shifts” implying that businesses “no matter how small and how new” can see the rewards of thinking like a global company. She also stresses the importance of data.

“This is one of the most exciting things about doing business today,” she said. “If you are selling a digital product it is highly likely that customers all over the world will find the product.” Good amount of data will ensure that your business can identify the right focus points.
